 Siskiyou Arts Council Gallery & Cultural Center in Mt. Shasta

 

The Siskiyou Arts Council invites you to visit our new Gallery & Cultural Center located at 418 - A North Mt. Shasta Blvd. Siskiyou Arts Council is now able to provide more service for the arts in Siskiyou County. Currently on display is the SAC members Arts show, featuring the best of Siskiyou County's visual, literary and performance artists. You'll also discover more about SAC’s 37 years of history in Siskiyou County featuring current projects like, H2O Manifesto, Marble Rim Gallery, Art Matters, the Arts Bus Project, Mt. Shasta Writers Series, Gifts and Grants, Etna Bluegrass Festival, Poetry Out Loud and more.

 

If you want to be part of future shows, present a demonstration or performance, teach, read poetry, or have some time to volunteer please call SAC's director Lauri Sturdivant at 938-0130. We want you all to have fun and be part of the fun we are creating in the arts.

July 14 thru August 16- Mt. Shasta

 

 

The SAC Gallery will host an Artist's reception for the STORYTELLING Show at the Gallery from 5-8. the Gallery will feature storytellers This months Artist of the Month is Fred Gordon. Reception for the Artist will be held on July 19th.5-8pm. Storytelling event will be happening throughout the month call the Gallery for the most current infomation.

 

This show runs from July 17 thru August 16.

July 3 - Mt. Shasta

 

A Call to Artists,  Performers,  Community Activists.   Experience the 1st Annual Mt. Shasta Eco-Arts & Entertainment Faire at the Mt. Shasta City Park Friday, July 3rd from 10 a.m. to Midnight.  This event hosts benefit shows  "for the Earth and Her Children," specifically benefitting Circle of Children and Recreation &  Parks and the Shasta Arts Council.   There will be free vending opportunities for arts, crafts, food and more, as well as advertising, volunteer, and performing opportunities.  For more information or to sign up, call Blackhorse@ (541) 653-7817 or email at ecoartsfair@benefitshows.com


July 11 - Redding - Call to Artists

  

Saturday, July 11, 3-6 p.m., during ArtHop's 1st Birthday Bash

 

Library Park. We are seeking artists for Artist Demonstration/Art Sales booths.  Booths are free but artists must demonstrate their work.  Birthday Bash will also include Mt. Shasta Taiko Drummers plus 2 other bands, food vendors, chalk art, sponsor booths, an Enjoy "Pavilion" and a gigantic birthday cake. All free to the public.

October 17 - Call to Artists - Redding - Deadline August 30, 2009

 

Call to Artists in All Mediums: The Shasta County Arts Council invites you to apply for our first annual ARTsMART in the Mt. Shasta Mall on Saturday, October 17, 2009.  The SCAC is hosting an all day, one day all ARTs event in a cool, clean environment with plenty of space for 30+ artists to show, demonstrate, and sell their wares!  Live entertainment and food to satisfy all in food court!

Artists Opportunity

  

The Shasta View Nursing Center in Weed would like to invite local artists to share their art. Dancers, musicians, story tellers, actors, and painters with art to display are encouraged to share their art with this thriving community. The nursing center is able to offer a gallery showing to the public with tea wine or coffee. Contact the activity manager, Frances Pucci at 938-4429 for more information.

Release . . . Conjure . . . Invoke . . .The Elements.  Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Ether brought to life.  This exhibit aims to explore the elements not only visually but viscerally.  How is the element of air perceived, how is fire utilized and what results? How is earth felt, ether understood or imagined? Did someone say culture, champaigne and conversation?   Indeed, you'll find all three and more at the opening reception of the Siskiyou Arts Council's June show: ~SPECIAL PLACES IN SISKIYOU COUNTY . . . INCLUDING IN ONE'S MIND  Friday, June 19th from 5:00 to 8 p.m. at the SAC Gallery & Cultural Center, located at 418 N Mt. Shasta Blvd.   Special Places artists include Marilyn Ellis, Nickki Hill, Chris Messer, Caleb Phillips, Madeline Derczo, Joel Glick Al Lowry, Cheryl Petty and Tony Corsini's  painting of Black Butte won Best of Show.

 

The SAC co-op’s artwork features new works by Linda Vivas, Eloise Larson, Chris Messer, Joy Price, and Colette Urquhart, Jack Shaw’s bronze sculptures, and pottery by Claudia Mansfield and Jan Schrag.

 

The Siskiyou Arts Council Gallery will showcase the SAC Artists Registry Artist of the Month, Victor Martin and Allison Scull. Victor and Allison are the latest recipients of SAC’s Community Achievement Award.

July 1 - Mt. Shasta

 

Wednesday, July 1st, kick off Mt. Shasta's July 4th weekend celebration with The Travelin' McCourys featuring Ronnie and Rob McCory at the Mt. The Siskiyou Arts Council’s Gallery & Cultural Center is holding an artist reception on July 2, 2009, at 5:00 the SAC Gallery for the SAC Artists Registry Artist of the Month, Victor Martin and Allison Scull. Victor and Allison are the latest recipients of SAC’s Community Achievement Award. “We are very grateful to be recognized by our community to receive this recognition, “stated Victor and Allison. The SAC July board meeting will begin after the reception at the Gallery.

July 3 - Weed/COS

 

The College of the Siskiyous Mt. Shasta Vocal Jazz and Show Choir Camp invites the public to a concert on Friday evening, July 3, at 7 p.m., in the Weed Campus Kenneth W. Ford Theater.  Tickets are $2 and will be available at the door one hour prior to the concert.

Sunday, July 5th at 6 p.m. see renowned multi-instrumentalist David Lindley headline a Mt. Shasta Chamber of Commerce Benefit Concert.  Located at the Mt. Shasta Community Building, 629 Alder St. in Mt. The Summer String Summit 2009 will take place on July 8th at COS.  You will not want to miss this Siskiyou Arts Council supported event!  Some of contemporary acoustic music's most brilliant stars, including Darol Anger, Abigail Washburn and The Bee Eaters will convene once again for an unforgettable journey through Bluegrass, Celtic, Jazz and Old-Time music. Located at the College of the Siskiyous Kenneth W. July 13 - Weed/COS

 

COS offers Annual Performing and Visual Arts Clinic: Weed / COS – Back by popular demand is the COS Performing and Visual Arts Clinic for children in grades first through eighth.  Now is the time for students to enroll in this two-week clinic to be held July 13 – 24.  The clinic will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. daily at the Weed Campus. Camp registration cost ranges from $188.00 - $259.50.

The Siskiyou Arts Council will host Uncovering Your Inner Rumi - a devotional poetry writing workshop with Ana Holub on July 22 at 7:00pm.  Ana is the author of The Edges Are Friendly and the upcoming Jumping into the River of Love. Bring pen, paper and a curious heart.  $10 donation supports SAC. July 25 - Mt. Shasta

 

Bellydancers and performers of international dance styles will dazzle the Stage Door Cabaret Coffeehouse at the Mt. Shasta World Dance celebration in Mt. Shasta on Saturday, July 25 at 8 p.m.!  Troupes, soloists and students are invited to perform in a relaxed atmosphere.   Audience members are welcome to order from the delicious menu of the Stage Door, 414 North Mt. Shasta Blvd, as they enjoy live entertainment and delightful music.   Admission is $5. 

 

Special guests Circus Tribal from Ashland, Oregon will bring their talented choreography to Mt. Shasta this month.  They will be joined by Shastabelly of Yreka and other dancers of all styles and levels of experience.  In an open floor setting, all styles of world dance will be welcome.  Performers are asked to arrive by 7 p.m. with music on a working CD.  For more information, please contact Robyn at 938-4498.  Your hosts Kerry and Robyn, bellydancers from Lake Shastina, look forward to seeing you there! 


July 25 - Dunsmuir

The Siskiyou Arts Council is presenting Up-Beat Poetry Night on Friday, July 31  at 8:00pm at the Stage Door in Mount Shasta.  The evening will feature Up-Beat poet Andrew Susak, Nikolas Allen, and more. Wear your beret and brush-up on finger snapping and come enjoy a night of up-beat poetry, music and film.
