The Siskiyou Arts Council invites you to visit our Gallery & Cultural Center located at 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd. Siskiyou Arts Council is now able to provide more service for the arts in Siskiyou County. Please stop by the Gallery to see the current art show. You'll also discover more about SAC’s 37 years history in Siskiyou County featuring current projects like, H2O Manifesto Marble Rim Gallery, Art Matters, the ArtsBus Project, Mt. Shasta Writers Series, Gifts and Grants, Etna Bluegrass Festival, Poetry Out Loud and more.

There are still some booths available for Shasta Wildlife Rescue's 2009 Art on the Wild Side, Saturday, November 7th from 11 - 5 p.m at the lovely Gaia hotel in Anderson. Monica Zinda is seeking volunteers to help finish the Wildflower Mosaic Mural, located at the Weed Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center on Main Street. Any helpers able to donate 4 hours at a time to this project should contact Monica at her studio at 938.1600.

January 1 - North State
Southern Oregon University is seeking Art Inspired by Science to show in conjunction with the 91st annual meeting of the Pacific Division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, June 17 thru 20, 2010. Artists working in any media with artwork based on your interests or research in the sciences may send a short description (size, media, etc.), a brief explanation of its use of or reference to science (150 words) and a jpeg (2MB limit) or CD/DVD to all three of us: Michael Crane, cranem@sou.edu; Robert Louis Chianese, robert.chianese@csun.edu; and John Hafernik, hafernik@sfsu.edu by January 1.
January 1 - North State
The Mythical State of Jefferson is the subject of a show and performances being offered by Southern Oregon University's Schneider Museum of Art. Creative individuals and groups working in any media who are willing to join in exploring the ideas, politics, history and/or the appearance of The Mythical State of Jefferson may submit their work. Ongoing Artists Opportunity
The Shasta View Nursing Center in Weed would like to invite local artists to share their art. Dancers, musicians, story tellers, actors, and painters with art to display are encouraged to share their art with this thriving community. The nursing center is able to offer a gallery showing to the public with tea wine or coffee. Contact the activity manager, Frances Pucci at 938.4429 for more information.

The Siskiyou Arts Bus is offering new Movement & Music: Early Music & Dance Classes to Parents and little ones up to 3 years old. "Experience the power of music and the positive effects of motor development. Have Fun with Rhythm, Movement, Percussion & Singing!" Weekly classes begin October 14th and go through November 18th at the Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center, 109 East Lake St. Cost is $60 for 6 sessions. Call 859-2309 or 261-1724 to register. Mercy Mount Shasta Auxiliary will host a Book Fair Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria. Gift items and books available.

This is the last day to sign up for the French Breton Dance Ball, dance instruction by Deonesea at Sisson Elementary for 5th and 6th graders. The Dance Ball will be held Monday thru Friday, November 16th thru the 20th immediately following minimum days at Sisson, in the Sisson Gym. A community dance form that originated in Brittany, France, it encompasses circles, spirals and music from accordions, hurdy-gurdies and great rhythms. This event is sponsored by Siskiyou Arts Council and costs $35 per student for the entire week. COS Department of Theatre will be presenting Rumors, written by Neil Simon and Directed by Tom Murdock. Shasta Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation presents Art on the Wild Side, a fundraiser featuring talented artists of the north state, Saturday, November 7th, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Paintings, photography, sculpture, and woodcarving can be enjoyed, as well as wines, cheeses and other refreshments at the Gaia Anderson Hotel, 4125 Riverside Place, Anderson. The French Breton Dance Ball is offered from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. Monday thru Friday in the Sisson Gym. The Bra Project, showing at the SAC Gallery & Cultural Center on November 18, is a series of embellished bras with a statement, made by the C.O.S. Embroidery/Fiber Arts class to raise money for cancer research. With titles from "I've Got Hives" to "Chose Life", it covers a range of subjects. The object is to have people vote with their money for their favorites, putting their money in an envelope, writing the number of the Bra on the outside and putting it into the box. (We will provide a box and envelopes and pencils). The show will move from business to business in Mt. Shasta until November 30, and again the week of December 18th ending with an auction. The COS Ford Theater hosts the Eugene Ballet Company (EBC) for their presentation of "The Nutcracker" at 7:00 p.m. Local youth will be featured in various roles who have been coached by Nuria Llovet, owner, director and choreographer of Nuria's Dance Academy in Mt. A Holiday Tasting Event & Boutique at the Porcupine Gulch Ranch presented by Fairchild Medical Center-Scott Valley Guild, Saturday, December 5th, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Event includes Decadent Tasting of chocolate and truffles, wine, cheese, coffee, tea, beer and other tasty goodies. Come enjoy live entertainment by the Vagaries, and Model A cars from the Model A Club of Siskiyou County (weather permitting). Antiques from Heritage House will be displayed for sale, along with artisitic hand-crafted and unique boutique and food items--perfect for holiday gifts. Tuesday, January 27 is the date of the local Poetry Outloud finals! Featuring participants from high schools across the county, these will take place from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Ford Theater at Weed's COS campus.
