The Siskiyou Arts Council invites you to visit our Gallery & Cultural Center located at 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd.  Siskiyou Arts Council is now able to provide more service for the arts in Siskiyou County. Please stop by the Gallery to see the current art show. You'll also discover more about SAC’s 37 years history in Siskiyou County featuring current projects like, H2O Manifesto, Marble Rim Gallery, Art Matters, the ArtsBus Project, Mt. Shasta Writers Series, Gifts and Grants, Etna Bluegrass Festival, Poetry Out Loud and more.

The Shasta View Nursing Center in Weed would like to invite local artists to share their art.  Dancers, musicians, story tellers, actors, and painters with art to display are encouraged to share their art with this thriving community. Southern Oregon University is seeking Art Inspired by Science to show in conjunction with the 91st annual meeting of the Pacific Division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, June 17 thru 20, 2010.  Artists working in any media with artwork based on your interests or research in the sciences may send a short description (size, media, etc.), a brief explanation of its use of or reference to science (150 words) and a jpeg (2MB limit) or CD/DVD to all three of us:  Michael Crane, cranem@sou.edu; Robert Louis Chianese, robert.chianese@csun.edu; and John Hafernik, hafernik@sfsu.edu by January 1.

Siskiyou County high school students are invited to drop off art for our Patrons of the Arts High School Invitational art show.  Drop off art between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  No fee to enter and cash prizes will be awarded.  Reception and awards on Jan. 16th, after which students will take art home. This is the deadline to register for a filmmaker training workshop with Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project.  This organization promotes new films "that address the vital social justice issues that concern our multiple communities".  These 16 week workshops (one evening a week) are opened on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 10 participants.  Please visit www.qwocmap.org for more information and an online registration form.

RED, our newest art show, will have its opening night Friday, January 29, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the SAC Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Come into the Siskiyou Arts Council Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd., Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. to join a Digital Photo Workshop, taught by local resident and travel photographer, Mark Gibson.  Using images brought to the workshop by the participants, we will experiment with file sizes and formats, cropping, color saturation, brightness and contrast, sharpening filters, and cloning. We'll practice techniques such as erasing unwanted artifacts like dust and skin blemishes, and we'll work on improving color saturation so that the finished photos have more pleasing and vibrant color balances.
