MOUNT SHASTA, CA

 

v FUNDRAISER FOR MSCDT SPRING SEASON, Thursday April 16th

 

Dances and Stories about Nature and Human Nature – Tap Dancing Dandelions, Dancing Water Spirits, and a World Premiere: a duet with Miller and former Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet founding member Jessica Coleman Scott.  Music by local composers:  Dyveke Spino, and Grammy Nominee Gentle Thunder.  Made for both kids and adults, kids attending the performance can participate in a short introduction to creative movement amidst stories about nature and dances that are alternately funny and breathtaking.  There will be refreshments for sale and an auction.  A portion of proceeds will be donated to Mount Shasta Community Resource Center which is in need of books for children over age 6.  You can bring donations of such books to the fundraiser.  To donate items for the auction, please call (530)926-4339.

 

 

Flying Lotus Movement Center, Mount Shasta, 6:30pm.  Tickets on sale April 8th at Village Books, as well as at the door.  Adults: $15; Seniors, Kids 12 and under: $10.

v FREE DINNER THEATER

 

First 5 Siskiyou and Shadow Box Players are sending Mt Shasta City Dance Theater on tour in April throughout North Siskiyou County to perform Dances and Stories About Nature and Human Nature, directed and choreographed by Krista Miller.  These free performances are preceded by a free community dinner courtesy of the Siskiyou Family Resource Centers.

v H2O MANIFESTO COMING MAY 8th to YREKA COMMUNITY THEATER

1:15 to 3pm: Special presentation of excerpts of H2O Manifesto for Siskiyou County high school students with local resource and industry professionals. 

 

7:30pm:  H2O Manifesto, an original dance, music, and theater production about a Northern California farming family that must face some hard decisions when a water bottling company offers them a huge financial incentive to sell the rights to their spring. As they question the "value of the water" they come to realize that it runs far deeper than simple economics.  Audience members are invited to share their thoughts and ideas at the professionally facilitated “post show” forum.

 

 

Written, directed, choreographed, and arranged by Krista Miller, co-written by Jason Gigliotti, with a musical score by GRAMMY nominee Gentle Thunder with additional composition by David Schanaker, Krista Miller, and Tom Pincince.
